ASSEMBLY SHOWCASES TWO FEATURE FILMS AT THE 2022 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
This year, we had the great pleasure of collaborating on two major feature films that premiered at this year’s iconic Cannes Film Festival in France. Both films feature VFX from Assembly’s feature film and episodic teams, who to date have completed work with Netflix, Hulu, A24 and Showtime since the studio’s inception in 2021.
GOD’S CREATURES is acclaimed studio A24’s latest psychological drama, directed by Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer. Starring Emily Watson, Paul Mescal and Aisling Franciosi, God’s Creatures follows a mother in a windswept fishing village, torn between protecting her beloved son and her own sense of right and wrong. Assembly’s expert VFX team were the sole VFX providers on God’s Creatures, working closely with Director Saela Davis to bring her creative vision to life. Premiering to an exclusive audience at the festival on May 19th, 2022, the film has yet to announce its official release date in the UK and US, but you can read more about the film here on The Hollywood Reporter.
ARMAGEDDON TIME, distributed by Focus Features, is a period drama starring an all-star cast of award-winning actors, including Anne Hathaway, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Hopkins and Robert De Niro. Written, directed and produced by James Gray (of Ad Astra and The Immigrant), Armageddon Time is a coming of age drama about growing up in Queens in the 1980s, largely based on the director’s personal experiences. With VFX contribution from Assembly’s feature film team, the film was selected compete for this year’s coveted Palme d'Or award at the film festival.
